This episode gives us the chance to see Chloe and Max’s relationship as best friends, before any of the drama and anger and chaos. There’s mushy stuff, there’s goofy stuff, there’s serious stuff, and there’s a lot of love between them.
I sobbed at the end of this one. Playing through the approximately hour-long bonus episode has lots of cute moments, but the last 10 minutes is where it really hits hard. Everything is happening so quickly and coming to an end, and voice actress Hannah Telle pulls off an amazing performance that’s heart-wrenching. It shattered me. All the feelings of loss and loneliness, of longing and sudden change, of how much love is shared between Max and Chloe, and knowing that things don’t turn out the way they want them to in the end… Max’s farewell is well-written by Ashly Burch, and so well acted, my feelings didn’t stand a chance.
Beautiful and heartbreaking.
