We3 by Grant Morrison & Frank Quitely (2004).
A short (about 30 minutes) but very effective story about the escape of a trio of animals that have been altered and trained for military use. It’s emotionally investing (yes, I teared up), and is probably my favourite work by Morrison. What little use of language there is from the trio adds to the story’s emotional power. The art suits the tone of the book perfectly. Not for the faint of heart, but well worth the read.
