This book ends the run well, considering my growing disappointment with the series as it progressed. I haven’t enjoyed this run the way many people seem to have. Azzarello’s version doesn’t manage the awe-inspiring and heart-warming aspects of Diana’s personality with the same balance as Gail Simone’s. This Diana has always been more brutish and flat. Still, “Bones” is better than some of the other volumes in the run. One exchange in particular (Diana on her knees, begging for a life) was almost touching. Not to mention the sexual tension between Diana and Aleka in Wonder Woman’s secret origin…
